Hôm nay Tố Linh xin giới thiệu với các bạn 1 series các giới từ thường được sử dụng trong IELTS nhé. List từ này là tổng hợp các từ từ cơ bản đến nâng cao để các bạn học nâng band. Áp dụng đúng có thể đạt tới writing band 7.0 nha các bạn. Tuy nhiên, những từ vựng này khá là khó sử dụng, vì vậy bạn cần phải xem xét kỹ lương cách sử dụng từng từ để sử dụng đúng nha.
Danh sách 23 giới từ
1.Atop: On top of, at the top of
Nghĩa: Thêm vào đó
Example: Fruit and vegetable prices rose 1.3 per cent atop a 2 per cent gain last month.
2.Beneath: Có hai nghĩa tất cả
In or to a lower position than somebody/something; under somebody/something
Nghĩa: Dưới 1 cái gì đó
Example: They found the body buried beneath a pile of leaves.
Not good enough for somebody
Example: He considers such jobs beneath him.
3.Beside: Từ này cũng có hai nghĩa
Next to or at the side of somebody/something
Nghĩa: Bên cạnh
Example: He sat beside her all night.
Compared with somebody/something
Nghĩa: So với cái gì đó
Example: My painting looks childish beside yours.
4.Besides
In addition to somebody/something; apart from somebody/something
Nghĩa: Ngoài ra
Example: Besides working as a doctor, he also writes novels in his spare time.
5.Beyond
On or to the further side of something
Nghĩa: phía xa
Example: The road continues beyond the village up into the hills.
Later than a particular time
Nghĩa: muộn hơn 1 khoảng tgian
Example: I know what I’ll be doing for the next three weeks but I haven’t thought beyond that.
More than something
Nghĩa: Nhiều hơn gì đó
Example: Our success was far beyond what we thought possible.
Used to say that something is not possible
Nghĩa: Cái gì đó vượt khỏi khả năng
Example: The situation is beyond our control.
6.Concerning
About something, involving somebody/something
Nghĩa: Liên quan tới gì đó
Example: All cases concerning children are dealt with in a special children’s court.
7.Considering
Used to show that you are thinking about a particular fact, and are influenced by it, when you make a statement about something
Nghĩa: cân nhắc về một vấn đề nào đó
Example: Considering he has only just started, he knows quite a lot about it.
8.Despite/In spite of
Used to show that something happened or is true although something else might have happened to prevent it
Nghĩa: Mặc dù
Example: Despite applying for hundreds of jobs, he is still out of work.
9.Except/Except for/Apart from/Aside from
Used before mentioning the only thing or person about which a statement is not true
Nghĩa: Ngoại trừ
Example: We work every day except Sunday.
10.Excluding
Not including
Nghĩa: Ngoại trừ
Example: Lunch costs 10 dollars per person, excluding drinks.
11.Following
After or as a result of a particular event
Nghĩa: Kết quả
Example: He took charge of the family business following his father’s death.
12.Given
When you consider something
Nghĩa: Khi cân nhắc cái gì đó
Example: Given his age (Considering how old he is), he is remarkably active.
13.Including
Having something as part of a group or set
Nghĩa: bao gồm
Example: Six people were killed in the riot, including a policeman.
14.Notwithstanding
Without being affected by something; despite something
Nghĩa: Mặc dù
Example: Notwithstanding some financial problems, the club has had a successful year.
15.Onto
Used with verbs to express movement on or to a particular place or position

Example: She stepped down from the train onto the platform.
Used to show that something faces in a particular direction

Example: The window looked out onto the terrace.
16.Opposite
On the other side of a particular area from somebody/something, and usually facing them
